"If you surrendered to the air, you could ride it." - Toni Morrison
Asia Smith graduated with a B.A. in Anthropology and Sociology from Kalamazoo College. She grew up in South Florida. Growing up with a family of avid foodies and gardeners, Asia became interested in food and where it originated early. With the encouragement of her family and friends, she took up gardening and got involved in local foodways projects. Asia is a fierce advocate for food education and youth advocacy.
Now as a Cleveland Foundation Fellow for MyCom, Asia translates her skills and love for youth engagement in a communications capacity. When she isn’t studying or working, she enjoys cooking, gardening, and catching up on her favorite shows.
MyCom will enact our mission with race and equality at the forefront of our work as we always have. We will use our thought-leadership, funding, advocacy, and network to redesign service delivery. Together we will rethink infrastructure and create solutions that eliminate access to healthcare, cyclical poverty, access to quality education, housing stability, and other barriers that have impacted black lives.
